Assalamu Alaikum Everyone!
How are you doing? I hope you are having an amazing day wherever you are in the world! May Allah bless and shower you and all those you love with happiness and health.
Today’s blog post will be another transcript for my most recent video. For this video, we will discuss some things that will help us start this year on the right foot. Personally, I don’t start school until the second week of September, so its like super close. And just like many of you, I am a little bit nervous to start this year, especially because of the online factor. But guess what guys? We can do this and I know we can. You know why? Because we have done it so many times before, and this year is just another time. By the way, the tips of this post will be in a chronological order of which things we should typically be completing first. I really want us to work hard to making this year the best yet, so let us get into these tips.
- fix your sleep schedule
The first tip that I think you should do a week or two before beginning this school year, is to fix your sleeping schedule. I know because of this whole quarantine thing and also summer vacation being around, all our sleep schedules have been completely ruined. I know how hard it is to be productive when your sleep schedule is all over the place. Adding on top of that, most of us are doing are school or work at home, so we are more inclined to sleep at times we wouldn’t typically be sleeping at, if it were not quarantining. Thus, we have to take it upon ourselves to better habits like these. To fix our sleeping schedule we have to begin by doing things that will help us achieve this. This means that no more long afternoon naps. Avoiding naps during the day, will make it easier for you to fall asleep at night. If you can’t help and you really want to nap, then try to aim for naps that are less than 30 minutes. As well, make sure your naps are not after 3 PM, that way you can make sure that your nighttime sleep is not disrupted. You also want to work on sleeping early and waking up early. Try to avoid using your phone when it’s time for you to go to sleep. I know we all like to scroll through social media for a bit before we go to sleep. But the thing is, that bit can turn into 3 hours of you still scrolling through social media and not going to sleep. Having bright light directly at your eyes when going to sleep is one, unhealthy and two, will develop will mess up your sleep momentum. So, starting now, let’s work on fixing our sleep schedules, and building healthier habits.
- set your goals for this school year
For my second tip, I would advise on setting a goals list for this school year. And I want you to actually take the time to write these goals down. Like with paper and pencil. I know we sometimes like to convince ourselves that we can memorize goals without actually writing them down, but that is not always the case. In fact, there is a study that shows that you are 42 percent more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. Writing down your goals forces you to come to know exactly what it is you want to accomplish and it motivates to work on completing the steps necessary to achieve these set of goals. As well, you are more likely to be productive if you can see what things you have to do, instead of just having it in thought bubbles. Your goals don’t only have to be academic and grades based, but can also be about what kind of things do you want to accomplish during the school year in terms of your social life, extracurriculars, and anything else that you do. For example, one goal that I want to accomplish this school year is to be able to get a job.
- review past material
As much as summer is meant to be for relaxation and not having to worry about any school work, it won’t hurt to use the last bits of summer to look back on the previous years materials. If you don’t have any leftover notes from last year, then you could watch YouTube videos that cover the topics you had learnt. Refreshing the information you learnt the year before, will help you enter this academic year confident.
- clear out your headspace
My final tip for you to help you hopefully start this school year strong, is to clear out your headspace and have the right mindset to start this year. This will become a little bit easier when you are setting up your goals set. You also want to build the right intentions for starting the school year. Having the right headspace to start this school year off will help you be mentally prepared for this school year. That way you are ready to take in new information. You can work on clearing out your headspace by simplifying your daily habits, set your priorities, decluttering your environment and journaling your thoughts. Whatever you do, make sure you are mentally prepared to start this new school year, so you can make sure you are able to succeed.
Anyways my lovely readers, that was it for today’s video, InshAllah you are able to find these tips helpful and can therefore start your year on to a great start. Thank you for your continued support on my blog and YouTube channel, I really appreciate. Jazakum Allah Khair! ♡♡
